What You Can Do To Help Yourself and Save Money!
Packing
If you pack, make sure you put everything in boxes. Homes only partially packed require additional trips to the truck which in turn raises your costs. Clearly mark the destination of your boxes at the top and sides. Also, close and tape shut your boxes. Pack heavy items in small boxes (i.e. books), and lighter items in large boxes (i.e. linens). The better job you do packing, the higher the probability the items will be transported safely and without damage. Remember, Changes In Latitude is not responsible for items not packed by our professional packers.
Drawer Contents
Clothing can remain in dresser drawers. However, please remove fragile or heavy items. Desk Drawers must be emptied completely. File cabinets (with the exception of Lateral and Fire) can remain loaded. Please lock or tape shut file drawers or doors and drawers that have a tendency to fly open.
Assemble / Disassemble
We will be happy to assemble and disassemble items that require this service (beds, armoires, dresser mirrors, etc.). However, please remember this service will add extra time. Therefore, as a tip to the frugal, doing one or the other (or both) will lower your costs. Please have ziploc or plastic baggies available for nuts, bolts, screws and other odd parts.
Placement
It will be extremely helpful if you make yourself available to instruct and guide the men as they load and unload your items. It is your responsibility to ensure all of your items are moved, properly placed and present at the end of your move.
Parking
Please save an area suitable for loading and unloading your items swiftly. Access is extremely important to the speed and success of the move. Please secure a clean and clear path for loading and unloading (especially new construction).
Clear Walkway
We will make our best effort to keep your floors free of debris and scuff marks. However, we are not responsible for grease, dirt or other similar damage to your floors. We have available at our office "Floor Runners" for purchase. If we are moving you into a newly constructed area, please take steps to clear the walkways of dirt and debris that is usually associated with new construction.
Cleanliness
Out of respect for our men, future customers, and in order for our trucks, pads and other equipment to remain clean, please have all items to be moved in a clean condition.
Trash
Our men are not allowed to haul trash from your premises. If you wish, please notify the office beforehand and we will help you arrange for those services.
Appliances
Please empty the contents from your refrigerator, freezer, washer and dryer. Our movers are trained to disconnect and reconnect washer, dryers, and refrigerators, but will get a release signed to do so.
Tips
Our men are allowed and greatly appreciate being tipped. However, do so only if you feel they deserve and are worthy of this generous gesture by you.
